Start a cup tonight
The quick way to run a cup: everyone's names on one screen, one button, and the bracket is ready.
1. Set it up
Go to Cups and press New cup, or press Start a cup on your dashboard.
- Name: whatever you call it.
- Who's playing? Type a name and press Enter, or paste a whole list. People you've played with before are listed under Played before; tap one to add them.
- Sport and Game: pick the sport, then the game (501, 8-ball, a set of tennis and so on). Shorter and Longer change how many legs, frames or games make a match.
- Format: Knockout, Two lives (you're out after your second defeat) or Everyone plays everyone (one table, and whoever tops it wins). The preview shows how it will look.
On the Free plan a cup is a straight knockout for up to 8 players, and the other formats are marked Paid. See Plans and limits.
2. Draw the bracket
Press Draw the bracket. The cup starts, the draw is made, and you land on Match Night.
Not ready yet? Save without starting keeps everything and takes you to the cup's admin panel; press Start the cup there when you're ready. More options opens the step-by-step setup, for seeding, scheduling or teams.
3. Match Night
Match Night is made for the table:
- Up next shows the matches ready to play.
- Tap a match, tap who won (or enter the score if your game has one), and press Save · next match.
- Table or Bracket shows where everyone stands.
When the last match is saved, the champion is shown at the top.
Let everyone claim their spot
The names you typed are guest players until they're claimed. Press Show codes: each player scans their own QR code with their phone camera, signs in or makes a free account, and the spot is theirs, along with their results from the night. The page shows who's still to claim.
Wrong person scanned? Press Undo claim, then show the right person their code. You can undo for a day, as long as they haven't played anywhere else since.
Let people watch on their phones
Every cup started this way has a live link. Anyone with it can follow the bracket on their phone without an account, and they can't change anything. You'll find it under Watch it live on Match Night: Share link sends it, Turn off link stops it working, and Turn on live link brings it back.
Run it back
When it's over, Run it back starts the same players on the same game with a new draw, straight into Match Night. Anyone who claimed their spot comes back as themselves. Go again on your dashboard does the same.
Out of time?
The cup's owner can press End the cup early in the cup's admin panel. The cup finishes with no winner.
