Quick Start Guide
The fastest way to get a competition running is the quick start wizard — five short questions and you're playing. It picks sensible defaults for everything else, and you can change any of them afterwards.
Open the wizard
Go to My Leagues or My Cups in the sidebar and click New league or New cup.
Prefer to set every option yourself? Advanced setup, next to that button, opens the full form instead. Nothing is lost either way — both routes build exactly the same thing.
The five steps
- Name — what people call it. You can add a sponsor name later without breaking any links you've shared.
- Sport — pick from the tiles. This sets sensible scoring and stats for you.
- Format — how a single match is played (best of 3 legs, say). For a cup you also choose how the cup runs — straight knockout, groups first, and so on — with a diagram of each.
- Players — three ways, and you can mix them:
- Paste a list — one name per line. They don't need an account.
- Search — for people who already have one. On a cup they get an invitation to accept; on a league they're added straight away.
- Teams — switch to Teams, then add each team with its players underneath.
- Review — everything on one screen, with an Edit link on each row to jump back.
Two ways to finish
This is the choice that matters, and it's on the Review step:
- Set it up, start it later — the default. We build everything, including the fixture schedule (league) or the roster (cup), but nothing goes live and nobody is notified. You land in the admin panel, where you can change anything, and start it when you're ready.
- Start now — for a league this opens the season immediately; for a cup it locks the roster and draws the first round. Needs at least two players.
After the wizard
You land on the competition's admin panel with a summary of what was built, plus:
- anything still outstanding — for example, "the draw needs at least two participants"
- a join link and code to share, so players can add themselves instead of you typing names
- the button that starts it, if you chose to start later
What if I missed something?
Nothing the wizard does is permanent. Venues, match dates, stat types, extra divisions, more players — all of it is editable from the admin panel afterwards. It's a fast start, not a cage.
Before you invite anyone
Check your own profile is complete under Settings: your display name, contact details, and date of birth (kept private, but it's what makes age-eligibility rules work).
